Over the years, we have seen a number of awesome modern Dodge Challenger builds. But this might be one of the cooler ones.

Using a 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T as its basis, this Challenger was modified by Steve Mirabelli of Hendrick Motorsports and fitted with the steel body from a 1971 Plymouth GTX. To help tie the car together is a custom-made front fascia. All of the work done to the car took about four years to complete.

Finished in a beautiful “Tangelo” orange exterior color from House of Kolor, the car still retains its original factory 5.7-liter (345 cubic-inch) HEMI V8 engine and Mercedes-sourced 5-speed automatic transmission. Currently, available for sale on the popular online auction site BringATrailer.com, the car has 97,000 miles on the odometer. And although much of the powertrain remains stock, there is an aftermarket cold-air intake and Flowmaster dual exhaust that has been equipped on the car.

Other features include a front spoiler, rear bumper with integrated tail lamps, rear spoiler, matte black hood, fender stripes, and custom headlamps as well as a cowl hood with air inlets, fog lamps, flared wheel arches, a sunroof, 5-spoke 20-inch Coys aluminum wheels wrapped with staggered Nitto NT555 G2 rubber (275/40 upfront and 315/35 on the rear), red-finished Brembo calipers matched with slotted rotors at all four corners (which were recently replaced), Eibach lowering springs, white Katzkin upholstery, air conditioning, and an AM/FM/CD stereo.

Much of the build process of the car can still be found on Steve Mirabelli’s YouTube channel.

The Carfax report lists an accident in November 2011 that resulted in front-end damage after hitting a deer as well as damage to the left front in November 2013, and “moderate damage” in January 2017 to the front and right side of the vehicle along with fire damage. The Carfax report also notes that the car was deemed a “Total Loss” in April 2017.

The car is currently located in Florida and as you can see is in beautiful condition after getting its GTX body in 2021.

The auction ends on Wednesday, June 22nd. As of the writing of this article, the bidding sits at $36,951 USD. We interested in seeing what the car takes in. To see more pictures, video, and details, be sure to check out the dedicated page on BringATrailer.com.
